I have finally got around to watching the latest episode. I feel like a drag show was a legitimate excuse to miss show on Friday (it was awesome! people should dress in drag more often! I talked to people and vodka made it somewhat less horrible!), but there is none for not having watched it earlier this weekend.
1. I've been kind of ambivalent about the season thus far, but now I'm getting really excited about it and where it's going. (It tends to take me quite a while to work up the momentum to be really into things, it sucks.) I hope we get a good subplot of the war in Heaven and get to see more of this Castiel, but after all my expectations for where they were going with Castiel last season, I'm trying not to get my hopes up for how much we'll actually get to see -- even though I think it could be really awesome. More likely they'll just go with the simpler (and less character-driven D:) subplot of the missing weapons.
(aside: This is one of the reasons I love White Collar so much. There's a lot more focus on the characters and the characters driving the plot/having an influence on the show. I wish there was more of that in SPN. This...there is a continuous plot with the characters, but it generally doesn't have much influence on the way an episode or story-arc develops. ...I'm probably not expressing this very well.)
2. I'm not sure how I feel about Crowley so far this season. He's less suave, magnificent bastard and more thuggish. :( It makes it much harder to adore him. Please redeem him writers! I liked being able to merge him with Good Omens!Crowley.
3. Am I the only one who's kind of liking soulless!Sam? It is rather a re-hash s4!Sam, but I'm hoping the writers will do something new with Sam and Dean and their relationship (too much to hope for?). I'm excited to see where this goes and see it explored in fic, and see where Crowley's purgatory thing goes.
4. Oh, yeah. And I accidentally saw the stupid cable guide episode description again, so I totally got spoiled for the episode and the dog-skinwalker thing. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING BEEN DEVOUTLY SPOILER-FREE ALL SUMMER ONLY TO HAVE IT FUCKED UP EVERY SINGLE WEEK. /raeg
So not so much commentary on the episode and more on the season in general. Oops. That's what I get for not having done any reaction posts.
I am excite for next week. Apparently the promo was cool? Plz to be having much Cas.
